A TYPICAL DAY AT GEMS CAMP:
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
After all the campers arrive, we’ll all play a group activity/game to start off the day. You know, fun stuff! From crafts to a good game of tag, after our warm-up activities your child is sure to be awake and ready to learn. The campers will also spend this time to work on their science exhibits for the week. Each week will be allocated an appropriate scientific theme and kids will get an opportunity to present their thoughts or findings in a creative manner.
10:00 AM – NOON
Now we teach campers the concepts of the day by placing children in small groups of 4 or 5, each with a camp counselor. And don’t worry; we’re not in school! So we’ll go at a pace that your child will excel at. To make sure your children understand, we’ll perform safe and well-supervised experiments and demonstrations that will illustrate these scientific concepts and theories. And then we’ll organize a fun, constructive, and creative activity where our campers can apply the concepts they have just learned to real-life applications.
NOON – 12:30 PM
Lunch Time! Children will need to provide their own lunch from Mondays to Thursdays and then will have the option of participating in a pizza lunch provided by GEMS on Fridays. Friday lunches will include a slice of cheese or vegetarian pizza, a bottle of water or juice box, and a healthy snack.
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM
After lunch, camp counselors will have an organized physical activity for the children to participate in, including scavenger hunts, anatomy tag, water balloons, soccer tournaments, catch the bacon, and more! On some special days, we will also have guest instructors introduce the children to yoga, karate, dance, and other fitness activities.
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Now that lunch is over, campers learn some more! We will either continue with our topic from the morning, or we’ll learn something new. Whatever it is, it’s sure to be fun!
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Finally, we end off our day with a creative craft. Crafts include friendship bracelets, making lip gloss, designing your own scent for a perfume, making your own paper, puppets and much more!
